MaksIT develops indie cloud-native software for clusters and the systems around them. A release is published as a package you run yourself, or offered as a hosted service (SaaS). The software is open source, published and maintained, with additional services.

This line is separate from the desktop programs. A desktop tool that talks to a cluster, such as Cluster Console, is desktop software. It is described on the desktop software page.

Package or hosted service

A package is what you deploy. The release runs where you put it, next to the cluster or the system you already operate. A hosted service is the same kind of software, run as SaaS and described on its own terms. The catalog page for a program says which of those applies.

What cloud-native means here

Cloud-native, on this site, means software built for clusters and for the systems around them. It is not a browser page that stands in for a desktop program, and it is not a desktop program that only connects to an API.

Configuration and data for a package stay with that deployment. Credentials stay in the stores the deployment already uses. A hosted service processes the data its own page describes.

Open source and releases

Public code is in the GitHub repository named on the program’s page, under that repository’s license. The license in the repository is the one that applies.

Releases go out on the repository. A later release is published there, with the notes for that release. The site points at the repository. It is not a second copy of the code.
